Just 2 percent of the Philippines’ entire population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, Health Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega said.
Vega, also the country’s treatment czar, made this remark in an interview on GMA News’ Super Radyo dzBB Sunday.
“As of now, yung mga fully vaccinated ay nasa mga 2 percent pa lang ng population natin. Medyo malayo-layo pa tayo,” according to him.
“Ang target natin before the end of the year, kung pwede maka-vaccinate tayo 50 to 70 percent of the population,” he also said.
The government, Vega added, must hit a target of administering 500,000 vaccine doses each day to achieve this goal.
“Kakayanin ito, pero ang limiting factor dito [ay] yung supply. Ang supply natin hindi consistent, depende sa dumadating. Ang dumarating lang mga 500,000, 1 million kaya madali talaga maubos yan,” the health official said.
