PDP-Laban to pick presidential bet in July — Nograles

The administration party will decide on its standard-bearer for next year’s elections in July.

Secretary to the Cabinet Karlo Nograles said they need to decide on the matter soon so they can meet certain requirements set by the Commission on Elections in August and September.

“Kailangan na mag-decide ng party before August,” said Nograles who is also a member PDP-Laban’s National Council.

PDP-Laban’s next national council meeting is tentatively scheduled on July 16 or 17.

The party wants the President to run for vice president and choose his running mate in the process.

Nograles said party members will toe the line, whatever decision or recommendation the President makes in next month’s meeting.

“Whoever the President endorses, unanimous na po ‘yan palagay ko,” said Nograles.

Nograles said that although the party has several members to choose from, they are also open to endorsing a “guest candidate” as their presidential bet for the upcoming polls.

“It’s been known to happen, it’s happened in the past and PDP-Laban can go to that extent,” he said.
