Roque on Pacquiao’s corruption claims vs DOH: Absent siguro siya sa Senado

By Prince Golez

Malacañang on Wednesday shrugged off the plan of Senator Manny Pacquiao to expose corruption in the Department of Health (DOH), saying the lawmaker might have been absent when Secretary Francisco Duque III presented the government’s spending for the Covid-19 pandemic response in the Senate.

“Absent po siguro si Senator Pacquiao nung nag prisinta yung mga Cabinet secretaries. Kung hindi siya absent, he may have been preoccupied with something else,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during the ceremonial vaccination for A4 group in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

“Nanggaling na si Secretary Duque doon sa Senado, nag-explain na po siya doon at wala namang kasong naisampa matapos po yung eksplanasyon ni Secretary Duque,” according to Roque.

On Tuesday, Pacquiao accepted the challenge of President Rodrigo Duterte to identify government offices and employees involved in corruption.

The boxer-senator then identified the DOH as a corrupt government agency, questioning the purchases made for personal protective equipment, rapid test kits, and masks among others.

“Handa ka ba Sec. Francisco Duque na ipakita ang kabuuan ng iyong ginagastos? Saan napunta ang pera na inutang natin para sa pandemya?” he added.
