Young Pinoys urged to donate blood

By Prince Golez

To celebrate World Blood Donor Day, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is urging the youth sector to donate blood and help save lives.

Countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) every June 14th each year.

This year’s WBDD campaign, the PRC intends to focus on the important role young Filipinos play in ensuring the adequacy of blood supplies.

The young could donate one in three months, the humanitarian organization said.

“The people’s need for blood doesn’t stop. PRC will always be open to help. Donate now! The blood that you will donate today will save lives tomorrow,” PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard Gordon said in a statement.

Gordon enjoined everyone to get in touch through the 104 Red Cross chapters and 98 blood service facilities. They may also contact the hotline 143 for urgent blood concerns.

The theme of WBDD 2021 is “Give blood and keep the world beating.”
