President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday asked his chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo to deal with former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Trillanes earlier accused Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go of plunder involving P6.6 billion in government contracts from 2007 to 2018.
During his weekly public address, the President likened Trillanes to Senator Manny Pacquiao, saying they both want to hold power after seeing an opportunity for themselves.
“Si Trillanes pareha ni Pacquiao ‘yan. They want to, you know, hold power because may nakita siguro silang magandang oportunidad nila para sa kanila,” he said.
“Well, I leave Trillanes to you. Ikaw na ang bahala sa kanya kung anuhin mo ‘yan. Eh daldal nang daldal ‘yan eh hindi naman lumaban ng debate ‘yan,” Duterte told Panelo.
Pacquiao earlier claimed that corruption has worsened under the Duterte administration, tagging the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Energy, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as corrupt agencies.
