Duterte wants all CTG guerilla fronts dismantled by 2022

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte said he hopes to dismantle all remaining communist terrorist groups (CTGs) by the end of his term in 2022.

During his televised address Monday, Duterte thanked the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the dismantling of several guerilla fronts of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) across the country.

“I would like to say that it is a job well done and if this continues, the CPP-NPA-NDF is in the throes of death,” the Chief Executive said.

“We might be able to hopefully dismantle all by the time I get out of this office,” he also said.

Prior to this, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles reported the dismantling of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) Sierra Madre, the biggest operational front of the NPA in Central Luzon.

The AFP, he added, continues to work on the dismantling of other CTGs such as the KLG Tarlac-Zambales KLG and the South Party Committees.
