Amid the detection of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in the Philippines, Malacañang said President Rodrigo Duterte “won’t hesitate” to raise quarantine classifications when necessary.
Local government units are enjoined to cooperate in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his virtual presser Monday.
“Hindi naman po tayo magiimpose ng ECQ (enhanced community quarantine) kung wala pong dahilan,” according to Roque.
“Alam po nating mahirap ang ECQ, pero pinagdaanan po yan ng NCR Plus 8, isang bagay na hindi naman po pinagdaanan, until now, ng mga probinsya na nadideklara sa ECQ.
“Mas matagal po yung ECQ at (modified) ECQ dito sa NCR Plus 8. But, when we have to resort to it under the goal of promoting total health, hindi po mag-a-atubili ang ating Presidente,” he added.
