The Philippine government has extended the ban on travelers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates and Oman until the end of the month, Malacañang announced Wednesday.
This aims to prevent the possible entry of the highly infectious Delta variant in the country.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases decided to extend the travel ban on seven countries until July 31.
“The IATF Technical Working Group is directed to further review and provide recommendations on the appropriate testing and quarantine protocols for travelers coming from the aforementioned countries, and such other countries/jurisdictions which may thereafter be identified as high risk,” IATF Resolution No. 126 read.
