Palace greets Iglesia Ni Cristo on its 107th anniversary

Malacañang on Monday extended its congratulations to the Iglesia ni Cristo on its 107th anniversary.

In a statement, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo wished this milestone will encourage millions of its followers around the world to strengthen their faith.

“It is undeniable that the prosperity of the Iglesia is inseparable from the modern history of the Philippines. Over the course of more than a century, the Iglesia ni Cristo has served as a spiritual tuning fork for the faithful and has corralled those who have been led astray. It has been a moral compass for the Filipino people leading us to the path of the true north towards our Creator,” said Panelo.

The abogado said the Iglesia ni Cristo, which has more than 5,000 congregations in the Philippines, has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Filipino people, adding that its teachings have enriched their faith and morals.

He also noted some of the Church’s socio-civic endeavors, such as its medical missions, outreach programs, biblical seminars, and donation drives during crises.

“The Iglesia ni Cristo has significant programs for nation-building as it engages its members to conduct activities related to promoting the country’s environment, culture and the arts. It has established the New Era University which reflects how the Church values education of the youth,” said Panelo.

“And aside from constructing houses of worship, it has erected needed infrastructure and related projects in communities, as well as built resettlement areas with housing units and livelihood sites for distressed citizens.

“Most importantly, during this time of uncertainty and anxiety as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iglesia ni Cristo has served as a shining beacon of hope for the Filipino. With fidelity to God as its core principle, they have served as a firm anchor for the faithful and have helped our nation persevere,” he concluded.
