Puro pasikat! God’s gift to journalism Rappler most distrusted PH media org

Rappler is proof that hiring big names in journalism and having deep pockets doesn’t always translate to credibility.

Results of campaign and lobbying firm Publicus Asia’s 2nd quarter survey for 2021 showed Rappler is the most distrusted media organization in the Philippines, with a low trust rating of 37.7 percent.

The second most distrusted media organization is ABS-CBN News Online, with a low trust rating of 30.4 percent.

“High” trust in Rappler stood at 25.5 percent, while “high” trust in ABS-CBN Online was at 38 percent.

CNN Philippines is the most trusted media organization with a 59.8 percent “high” trust rating and a “low” trust rating of 8.9 percent.

In second place as the country’s most trusted media organization is GMA Network, followed by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, Philippine Star, Manila Times, and TV5/Interaksyon.

“High” trust in Politiko stood at 16 percent while “low” trust was at 24.2 percent on the account of high unawareness about the website.

Rappler was established in 2012 by former CNN Southeast Asia reporter and Filipino American Maria Ressa.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) revoked Rappler’s certificate of incorporation in 2018 for using Philippine Depositary Receipts, which allowed American bilyonaryo Pierre Omidyar to invest and have control over the company in violation of the Constitution.
