Sotto confirms 2022 plan: ‘Nagdesisyon na kami ni Lacson’

Senate President Tito Sotto on Wednesday confirmed plans to seek the vice presidency and team up with Senator Ping Lacson.

“Nag desisyon na kami ni Sen. Lacson na oo nga, pero ang official launching namin na pinaplano namin ay sa August 4,” he said in a DZMM interview.

Sotto said the Lacson-Sotto launch and declaration would be next month to firm up collaboration with partners and supporters.

Asked what motivated his decision, he said: “Well, it may sound corny to others, but one of the reasons is the love of country.”

“Tanong natin, saan ba papunta ang Pilipinas? Meron pa bang programang maganda para ika nga ay put the country back on track?” Sotto said.

“At meron ba tayong programang magagawa na mas makakabuti para sa bansa? Yun, patong-patong na… nung nag consultative meeting naman kami at yung ibang kasama namin, at yung ibang kasama, yung consumer groups, merong commuter groups, yung mga kumakausap sa amin, tingin nila,” he said.

“’Yung mga programa namin at saka yung background katulad nung pagiging consensus-builder ko at pagiging ika nga ay street fighter ni Sen. Lacson nung siya ay PNP chief at siya ay sundalo hanggang siya ay natungtong sa Senado is a very good combination,” he said.

“So finally, ni-layout na namin yung programa and siguro mga two or three days ago, medyo we were planning we’ll announce on August 4, yun ang napili naming date eh,” Sotto said.
