Dapat lang! Ping says PhilHealth Execom members should take leave immediately

Members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth)’s executive committee (Execom) should take a cue from the agency’s regional vice presidents and go on leave while an investigation into corruption there is ongoing, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Monday.

Lacson said the regional vice presidents of PhilHealth, in filing leaves of absence, have shown the way.

“The RVPs (of PhilHealth) have shown the way. The members of the Execom should immediately follow and vacate their offices right away since they are the ones at the center of recurring controversies involving massive corruption,” he said in a text message to reporters.

“Vacating their posts would assuage the feeling of suspicion that the integrity of the records and incriminating documents would be compromised since they will continue to have access to the files of the (PhilHealth) Office,” he added.

Over the weekend, Malacanang confirmed at least six RVPs are taking a leave of absence while the investigation is ongoing.

Aside from the Senate investigation, a “powerhouse” task force led by the Department of Justice is also looking into irregularities at PhilHealth.
