Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is planning to go to Bajo de Masinloc and the Kalayaan Islands in the West to Philippine Sea to witness the situation of Filipino fishermen who were allegedly barred from entering the shoal.

This, after fisherfolk group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas challenged Roque to join them in a trip to the shoal to understand the plight of local fishers.

“Hindi ko po kinakailangan na kahit sinong humamon. Matagal ko na pong gustong pumunta roon,” Roque said in a televised briefing Thursday.

He then instructed his staff to arrange the trip.

“Can I ask Undersecretary (Rachel Queenie Dizon-Rodulfo) to arrange our trip to Bajo de Masinloc and to Kalayaan? Matagal ko na po gustong makarating diyan,” the official said.

“Bago matapos ang termino ni Presidente sana magkaroon po ng katuparan. Pero pupunta po ako diyan dahil gusto kong pumunta, hindi dahil meron pong paghahamon ng kahit sino,” added Roque.
