What to expect in Duterte’s final SONA

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte is set to deliver his sixth and last State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Plenary Hall of the Batasang Pambansa later at 4 p.m.

Duterte is expected to summarize his administration’s accomplishments over the past five years, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

In an interview over DZBB Monday, Roque said the President will also discuss the country’s roadmap that will help the country recover from the socio-economic devastation

caused by the Covid-19 crisis.

“Inaasahan natin na isa-isahin ni presidente ang kanyang mga nagawa na, nandiyan na po ang pag-implement ng universal healthcare, nandiyan din po ‘yung libreng irigasyon, yung libreng tuition sa state universities and colleges, at syempre po yung nagawa natin sa COVID,” according to him.

“Nandiyan po yung tinatawag nating the ‘golden renaissance of Philippine infrastructure yung ‘Build, Build, Build’, at ‘yung matagumpay na giyera laban sa droga,” he added.

Roque said Duterte will also ask Congress to pass his priority bills, such as the establishment of the Philippine Virology Science and Technology Institute and the Philippine Center for Disease Prevention and Control

“Bukod po diyan meron din tayong mga ‘yung pag further liberalize po natin ng ekonomiya atsaka ilang panukalang batas tungkol sa West Philippine Sea,” the spokesperson also said.
