President Rodrigo Duterte has endorsed Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III’s run for a Senate seat in 2022.
In his pre-recorded Talk to the People aired Tuesday morning, Duterte said he’s known Bello for many year and can attest to his integrity.
“Si Bebot raw… Bebot is kasama ko sa dormitoryo. I have known Bello for several years, [pumunta ito ng Davao] kasi ang asawa niya taga Davao at nagtrabaho din doon sa City Hall sa panahon ng father-in-law niya,” according to him.
“Bebot is clean. Kilala ko ‘yung bituka niya. So, hindi ako nangangampanya pero kung baka feel ninyo, Ilokano ito,” he added.
Last May, Bello said he was weighing his options on a possible Senate bid next year.
His decision would depend on both his physical and financial preparedness, he added.
