The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is mandated to select the potential equipment supplier for the 2022 national elections, Malacañang said.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the statement after poll watchdog Kontra Daya questioned the awarding of a logistics contract for next year’s general elections to F2 Logistics Philippines.
The firm is linked to Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy, a friend of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“The Comelec has the sole power ‘no to conduct elections including to award iyong mga kontratang gaya nito,” the secretary said in a virtual presser Tuesday.
Roque also stressed that Duterte had nothing to do with the Comelec decision to award a P1.61-billion contract to F2 Logistics.
“Wala pong kinalaman ang Presidente diyan; Comelec po ‘yan,” he added.
