Enough is enough.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio has had enough of her father, his former aide, and their political party linking her to their political plans in the 2022 elections.
Mayor Sara released a blistering statement about the planned vice presidential run of her father President Duterte with Senator Christopher Go as the standard bearer of PDP-Laban party.
In a Facebook post, she urged the two politikos to stop dragging her name to their plans to run in the 2022 elections, telling them to come clean about their tandem. She confirmed that her father will run for vice president in next year’s elections.
“I strongly suggest to the President and Senator Go to own up publicly their decision to run as a tandem. If they can confirm it privately, then I do not see the reason why they cannot be candid about it to the public,” she said.
Instead of presenting a charade, Mayor Sara said her father and his aide should simply present to the people “what they can offer to our country and how they can help our fellow Filipinos.”
She is also annoyed that her name is being dragged in the Go-Duterte tandem.
“I respectfully advised them to stop talking about me and make me the reason for them running or not running,” she said.
The mayor issued the statement after the Palace announced the President will withdraw his vice presidential bid if his daughter will run for president in next year’s elections.
Duterte recently agreed to run for vice president supposedly to continue his “crusade” against illegal drugs and criminality. Duterte was initially reluctant to pursue the VP bid but later decided to seriously consider the poll run to escape criminal prosecution.
His former aide, Senator Go, is supposedly not interested in running for president. A faction of the ruling PDP-Laban party has already nominated him as standard bearer in next year’s presidential elections.
