Duterte volunteers to audit agencies once elected VP: ‘I will do that’

President Rodrigo Duterte said he will audit government agencies if he becomes vice president.

Duterte made the statement after he asked during yesterday’s “Talk to the People” address as to who audits the Commission on Audit (COA).

“Somebody should do it. I will do that if I become vice president,” the Chief Executive said.

“Ako na lang din ang mag-audit sa lahat ng gobyerno. Lahat, pati yung akin, mag-umpisa ako sa akin,” he added.

Duterte earlier criticized COA for flagging government agencies and publishing unresolved audit reports.

State auditors should give agencies an “elbow room” so the government’s Covid-19 responders can effectively tackle the Covid-19 pandemic, he said.
