Philippine College of Physicians Pres. Dr. Maricar Limpin said that it’s imperative that a thorough investigation should be done on the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the deficiencies that the Commission on Audit (COA) found.
In an interview on Abante’s Balitaan at Kumustahan, Limpin shared that it is indeed sad to hear the news regarding the adverse findings in the disbursement by DOH of some P67.32 billion worth COVID-19 funds.
But she argued that it should not just be sensationalized and used for other causes, pertaining to the incoming 2022 elections.
“I think baka iyon po yung mangyari kasi nakikita naman natin marami doon sa mga ginagawa talaga na inquiries na ito ay hindi necessarily para makagawa ng batas no kasi unless mayroon talagang lumabas na batas but I think I have to be corrected no kung mali po yung aking obserbasyon pero so far yun yung nakikita natin,” she said.
Limpin used as an example the controversial Dengvaxia issue wherein she claimed that an inquiry was conducted by Congress in aid of legislation but no actual law came out from it.
“Hanggang ngayon naghihintay pa rin tayo kung ano ang batas. There were appropriate investigations done by appropriate agency pero that is another that is separate doon sa inquiry na ginawa ng Kongreso. So I think ang pinaka-importante dito ano ba talaga yung magiging endpoint ng investigation na ito,” she said.
“Kung ang magiging end ay magfile ng kaso against anyone in the Department of Health I think mayroon na tayong proper agency na siyang gagawa ng investigation na ito at kung saka-sakali Ombudsman naman ang didinig,” she added.
