Step up the vaccination.
Health reform advocate Dr. Tony Leachon has called for the swift vaccination of more people to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus cases in the country.
The country’s cases of infections have been escalating in recent weeks following the detection of the highly contagious Delta variant. The government reported 9,671 active cases on August 8, bringing the total to 77,516.
“We need to vaccinate more people ASAP, with agility, and with least wastage,” Leachon tweeted on August 8, 2021.
“We need to prioritize our vaccination goals due to cold chain issues, limited supplies, and competing needs of each LGU – with the goal of addressing herd immunity and vaccine equity. Focus is key,” he said.
With the rising cases, Leachon also pushed for closer monitoring of the COVID-19 hotspots “so we can plan well.”
“Stay safe and focused,” he tweeted.
The country’s positivity rate has reached 20.3%, highest since April 10. The figure means that one in five Filipinos tested is positive for the coronavirus.
