This is the reaction of Senate President Tito Sotto on reports that President Rodrigo Duterte or his long-time aide, Senator Bong go, would also gun for the vice presidency in 2022.
“My focus is clear. I’m offering my service to the Filipino Family and our people no matter who else is running,” said Sotto in a text message.
Sotto has declared he would be the running mate of Senator Ping Lacson who was gunning for the presidency next year.
Malacanang had previously confirmed that Duterte has agreed to run for VP with Go as president under the ruling Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
But Duterte would abandon his VP run if his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, would run for president. But this was premised on Sara endorsing Go as her VP.
