Malacañang on Tuesday refused to name the local government unit (LGU) that will be stripped of its role in distribution of cash assistance to low-income households affected by the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said he would not reveal the city because President Rodrigo Duterte did not identify the concerned LGU.
“Walang pong pangalan at wala pong pangalan ng siyudad na nabanggit ang ating presidente. Bilang tagapagsalita, I cannot add doon sa hindi nilabas ng ating Pangulo,” Roque said during his televised briefing.
“Meron po siyang dahilan kung bakit hindi niya siguro nilabas yun pero hindi ko alam kung bakit. So, I will have to leave it at that. I am only a spokesperson,” he said.
“If the principal did not want to reveal kung sino ang mayor na ‘yun at anong LGU na ‘yan, so be it, let’s leave it at that,” he added.
On Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to take over the cash assistance distribution in the “disorganized” city.
