Boxing legend and Senator Manny Pacquiao fought a “very good fight” despite losing to Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas in their welterweight match on Saturday, Malacañang said.
In a virtual presser Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque thanked Pacquiao for bringing honor and glory to the country for many years.
“Senator Manny fought a very good fight with his heart and soul. Ikaw pa rin ang aming People’s Champ, Senator Pacquiao,” he also said.
Ugas defeated Pacquiao via unanimous decision (115-113, 116-112, 116-112) in Las Vegas to retain the WBA welterweight belt.
