The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has submitted to Congress the P5.024 trillion National Expenditure Plan (NEP) for 2022, Malacañang confirmed Monday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the budget proposal, which is 11.5 percent higher than this year’s P4.5 trillion budget, is the largest ever in Philippine history.
“Ito po ngayon ang pinakamataas na badyet na isinumite ng ehekutibo sa Kongreo,” Roque said in a televised briefing.
“Itong 2022 National Expenditure Program po, sang-ayon sa DBM, ay binuo para magbigay ng pondo at suporta sa lahat ng pangangailangan natin habang tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
The secretary said the proposed budget aims to sustain the trajectory of economic growth and to continue the legacy of infrastructure development.
