Communications Secretary Martin Andanar offered sympathies to the family of former Cebu Governor Pablo “Pabling” Garcia who died on Wednesday at the age of 95.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, the rest of the Garcia family, and the loved ones and friends of former Cebu Governor Pablo ‘Pabling’ Garcia who passed away at the age of 95,” Andanar said in a statement.
The Presidential Communications Operations Office chief said Pabling, a trial lawyer, law professor and esteemed constitutionalist, would be remembered for his “exemplary” work and his dedication to public service.
“Aside from serving as the provincial chief executive of Cebu, Governor Pabling’s dynamic political career includes serving as vice-governor, congressman, and deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, among others,” he added.
Andanar also offered for the Garcia patriarch.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, their family and friends. We pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Governor Pabling,” the secretary said.
