By Prince Golez

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) commended boxer Carlo Paalam on winning the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

In a statement, Secretary Martin Andanar praised Paalam’s “excellent performance” in the men’s flyweight gold medal match against Great Britain’s Galal Yafai.

“As a fellow Kagay-anon, you’ve not only represented our country but (the Northern Mindanao region) as well. We’re all very proud of you and your excellent performance in the Men’s Flyweight Boxing Competition,” said Andanar.

The PCOO chief also congratulated Bianca Pagdanganan and Yuka Saso for their “solid performance” in the women’s golf competition.

Both of you didn’t only display our known qualities of grit and determination, but also our Filipino spirit of sportsmanship and excellence,” said Andanar.

Saso finished at ninth place while Pagdanganan ended at 43rd place.
