Broadcast journalist Karen Davila has defended Manila Mayor Isko Moreno from the barrage of insults from President Duterte over his past sexy photos.
Mayor Isko never hid his past, rose above poverty, made a name for himself, according to Davila.
“Galing sa matinding hirap si Isko Moreno. Kailan man di niya ipinagkaila ang kanyang pinanggalingan. He has tried to better himself through the years & succeeded,” Davila tweeted on August 10, 2021.
Davila also frowned the slew of personal insults against potential candidates in the 2022 elections. “Sana lang wala nang ganitong pangiinsulto sa kapwa porket kalaban sa 2022,” she said.
In another post on Twitter, Davila shared Mayor Isko’s recognition obtained from the government for his prompt distribution of quarantine aid to affected residents.
“Manila City Government forwards a certificate of recognition this morning signed by DILG Secretary Año praising Mayor Isko Moreno for his timely distribution of ayuda,” she said.
“This, after the President criticizes it for chaotic distribution last night,” she said.
The President ridiculed an unnamed Metro Manila mayor for his past as a sexy actor, saying he was trained like a “call boy.” Duterte, alluding to Mayor Isko, said the official was not fit to become President.
Mayor Isko, who risen from the slums in Tondo, Manila, is among the favored presidential bets based on recent opinion polls.
