His potential Senate bid in 2022 has nothing to do with President Rodrigo Duterte, according to Palace Spokesman Harry Roque.
Roque issued the remark on Thursday after Duterte claimed that his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio won’t run for the highest elective post next year.
“My Senate political plans have nothing to do with the President, and this is a presidential press briefing,” the spokesperson said.
“So, hindi ko po masasagot yan because it’s not something for the President to decide,” he added.
In June, Roque said he would run for senator if Duterte-Carpio seeks the presidency.
