House Deputy Minority leader and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate on Friday challenged members of the Cabinet to live on a P1,000 budget for two weeks.
Zarate also lambasted the government for failing to give the measly cash aid before the re-imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in National Capital Region, which started today, Friday.
The government promised to give P1,000 aid per individual or up to P4,000 per family in areas placed under ECQ.
Zarate asked.
During the previous implementation of ECQ in March and April, Zarate said aid did not come to many families even after the last day of the lockdown.
He said it seems that Malacañang has no sense of urgency.
Zarate also put on notice the administration not to subject the distribution of cash aid to another money-making scheme that reportedly attended the previous distribution of the billions-worth social amelioration program (SAP), which was awarded to a dubious company Starpay, as exposed recently by Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
