Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday (August 8) said will not back out of the presidential race should she decide to run for the highest elective post in the country.
Robredo gave the assurance she will not leave her supporters hanging as she shared details about the proposed unification plan of Senator Panfilo Lacson for the opposition.
On her radio show, “Biserbisyong Leni,” Robredo said Lacson proposed that presidential candidates file their certificates of candidacy in October but withdraw later on in favor of the politiko who fares well in pre-election surveys.
Robredo, however, said she doesn’t want to lead her supporters on if she decides to run for president.
“Kapag nag-file ako, kailangan kong ituloy ang laban. Kapag nag-file ako, hindi ako puwedeng umatras kahit gaano pa kahirap kasi pinresinta ko na iyong sarili ko sa publiko eh,” she said.
Robredo said she will campaign for the presidency until the end should her candidacy be formalized.
“Hindi puwedeng may mga tumaya sa akin tapos iiwan ko sila sa gitna ng laban. Iyong sa akin, kapag nag-file ako, kahit gaano kahirap, itutuloy ko iyon hanggang sa huli,” she said.
Robredo said she could decide on her political plans by September or October, the period for filing COCs for the 2022 elections.
