The mother of artist Bree Jonson is urging Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra to issue a hold departure order against Julian Ongpin, the son of bilyonaryo Bobby Ongpin, in connection with her daughter’s death.

In an interview on ANC’s “Headstart” Tuesday (Sept. 21), Sally Jonson said she had written an email to the Department of Justice requesting for the issuance of an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) for Julian, who was Bree’s companion when she was found dead inside their room at the Flotsam and Jetsam Hostel in La Union over the weekend.

Jonson said a hold departure order should be issued against Julian for alleged possession of illegal drugs.

The younger Ongpin tested positive for illegal drugs and 12.6 grams of cocaine was found in the room he shared with Bree.

Julian has been charged with possession of illegal drugs but the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office ordered his release while the investigation is being conducted.

“I’m reaching out to you sir, Secretary Menardo [Guevarra]. I sent an email to DOJ frontline asking for an immigration lookout bulletin order because of Julian Ongpin’s possible involvement in the death of my daughter, Bree Jonson, because last person na kasama siya ng anak ko sa resort na ‘yun,” Jonson said.

“I also have a request for the DOJ frontline for a hold departure request for Julian for drug possession. I would like to emphasize this urgency kasi baka si Julian ay nakalabas na ng bansa,” she added, expressing fear that Julian might have already fled the country.

The 29-year-old Julian is Ongpin’s son with the late Australian Della Stone. It’s unclear if Julian holds an Australian passport, though he has said that he grew up in Sydney.

Jonson, who resides in Canada, rushed to the Philippines after being informed of her daughter’s death. She is appealing to the government to shorten her quarantine to attend to matters related to Bree since she has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Canada.
