Colmenares hits egotistical Roque: ‘Is this how you treat our modern-day heroes?’

Leave your ego at the door.

Former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares put a Cabinet member in his place, reminding him about respecting the country’s health professionals toiling hard to fight the pandemic.

Colmenares criticized Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque for his rude treatment of doctors invited to a recent virtual meeting of the government task force in charge of responding to COVID-19 pandemic. He said these modern-day heroes are medical experts, not Roque.

“You invite leaders in the medical field to give insights and humiliate them when they don’t massage your ego. Sec. Roque, is this how you treat our modern-day heroes? Remember, they’re the medical experts, not you,” he tweeted on Sept. 10, 2021.

Colmenares included the hashtag #KalmaHealthExerptsSila in his rebuking Roque for his rant against the doctors.

Former government adviser Dr. Tony Leachon earlier revealed that a Cabinet member unleashed a verbal assault on physician leaders during the IATF meeting early this week. Leachon branded the Cabinet Secretary a “barumbado” as he defended the country’s doctors from bullying antics of the official. He did not identify the person.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer later published a report stating Roque berated the doctors who opposed the proposed easing of quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila. The doctors wanted to keep the strict lockdown measures to prevent the runaway surge of COVID-19 cases.

A short video of Roque’s temper tantrum was released by PDI reporter Marlon Ramos on Twitter. Roque has yet to comment about the latest meltdown.
