President Rodrigo Duterte asked healthcare workers in the country for more patience amid delayed payment of their hazard pay and special risk allowance.
Duterte promised during his taped public address that aired Wednesday to find money for healthcare workers to receive their benefits.
“Gusto ko ding ipaabot sa mga health workers na alam mo sa totoo lang, kung may pera lang to, you know, hindi namin pigilan, ibigay namin lahat ‘yan. Tutal anuhin man namin ‘yang pera sa kamay namin? Kaya ‘yang give us time to adjust to the finances because the fluctuation of events hindi natin malaman, kagaya nito bigla na lang,” the Chief Executive said.
But, Duterte said he understands the health workers’ call for the government to release their long delayed benefits and hazard pay as frontliners.
“You must know na there are projects now na talagang na on deck na dapat gawain na kanselado na. It would not be as rosy as before na project dito, project doon, because the money, ayan nga from time to time kailangan mo ito, bigla na lang kayo, tapos kayo nagrereklamo,” according to him.
“Hindi ko naman sinasabi mali ‘yan. Tama ‘yang ano ninyo kaya lang kaunting pag-unawa po kasi… Kay kung mayroon lang talaga, bakit namin hindi ibigay? Anuhin man namin ‘yung pera, hindi man amin? You would be the first to benefit especially during this time. But the problem is there are other expenses of the government other than the health concerns,” he added.
