Duterte hits Dick over 2017 plunder complaint: ‘Dami mong ginawa na sindikato’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday raised the plunder complaint filed against Senator Dick Gordon by then senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

In 2017, Trillanes accused Gordon of diverting P193 million in pork barrel funds to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) from 2004 to 2011.

“Remember the plunder complaint filed against you by fellow senator in 2017? You allegedly allocated P193 million for pork barrel to Red Cross and used the same for your campaign,” Duterte said in a pre-recorded speech.

“Ni ikaw mismo karami mong ginawa na sindikato, things that you should not do as a public official. Iyong P193 million na pork barrel na ginamit mo, hindi mo nga masabi sa amin kung saan nalagay ‘yun, totoo ba o hindi,” he added.

The President also cited the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) anomaly, which Gordon once headed.

“How about the disallowances and charges in the SBMA’s books of accounts when you were sitting as chairman? Is this amount of P140 million, is this the reason why you lobbied for certain individuals to be appointed to the SBMA so that you can protect your own interest?” he asked.

Gordon, the chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, drew the ire of Duterte when the panel investigated the controversial procurement of allegedly overpriced medical supplies amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
