Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) President Arsenio “Boy” Evangelista lauded the efforts of the Commission on Audit (COA) regarding its recent findings on various government agencies and their alleged deficiencies.
“Yung effort naman nilang yun is yun yung mandate talaga nila, imbestigahan lahat yung engagement ng isang departamento, ahensya kung tama ang ginagawa, yung disbursement ng mga pera, budget nila,” Evangelista said in an interview on Abante’s Balitaan at Kumustahan on Thursday.
He said with the unfolding of different deficiencies being flagged by COA, the anti-corruption watchdog recognized the importance of COA that is separate from the executive and other branches of government.
Evangelista mentioned that he encourages COA to continue to do their job of auditing government agencies and to not be threatened simply because it is their mandate as an independent constitutional body.
“The Commission on Audit, it is a commission to audit all government […] or kung paano nila ginagastos yung pera nila. So this is a welcome move also,” he said.
