Duterte to senators: What spectacular achievement have you achieved?

President Rodrigo Duterte chided lawmakers for not pushing for legislative measures that benefit the Philippine nation and its people.

During his taped “Talk to the People” address aired Wednesday morning, Duterte noticed that the same people vie for a Senate seat every election.

“‘Yung oath of office ko talagang tinupad ko. Ngayon, ito na lang, kung maniwala kayo sa kanila, matagal na ‘yan sila eh, pareho kami, ako lang mayor, sila mga senador, pabalik ng pabalik ng pabalik ng pabalik ‘yan sila,” the former mayor of Davao City for more than 20 years said.

“Tanungin ko kayo, may nakita ba kayo ng magandang batas na nakatulong sa bansa? Tanungin ko lang kayo. Kung sabihin ninyo ako ang nagkulang, sorry. Ginawa ko ang lahat. Kung ang lahat na ginawa ko kulang pa, patawad po, ‘yan lang talaga ang kaya ko,” he added.

Duterte encouraged the Filipino electorate to vote for someone else to enact change.

“Pero itong mga senador, hindi mo ba nakita na sila lang? Kung gusto mo ng pagbabago o ayaw mo na sa kanila, all you have to do is to get hold of that sample ballot and write it down. Hindi na kayo nagsawa diyan sa kanila? Sa totoo lang. What spectacular achievement have they achieved?” he asked.
