The implementation of a granular lockdown system in Metro Manila starting September 8 needs the approval of President Rodrigo Duterte, Malacañang clarified Sunday.
“New quarantine responses [are] still for approval of [President Duterte],” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a message to Palace reporters.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez earlier said the government’s pandemic task force approved placing the National Capital Region under a granular lockdown beginning Wednesday.
Lopez, however, did not provide details on the possible quarantine classification for areas outside the capital region.
Metro Manila is under modified enhanced community quarantine until September 7.
