Senator Manny Pacquiao may be extremely rich but he still prefers “kamayan” during meals.
Broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez has posted photos of Pacquiao eating with his bare hands, or without utensils, during a recent interview. Kamayan is considered a traditional way of eating food in the country.
“Ang sabi ni Sen. Manny Pacquiao: basta. Mas masarap kumain nang naka kamay. PS: Naubos ang dalawang takal ng kanin and fish. Naiwan ang chicken. FYI.

,” Korina captioned the photos of Pacquiao on Instagram.
Pacquiao, who came from humble beginnings before rising to become a boxing icon, is considered one of the richest senators. He recently returned home after he lost to Cuban fighter during a boxing match in Las Vegas, United States.
Korina’s post about the boxer-turned-senator however drew negative reaction from some Instagram followers. Some saw Pacquiao’s “kamayan” as a mere publicity stunt ahead of the 2022 presidential elections. Other noticed Pacquiao’s posh house and gold-plated cutlery even though the senator was eating with his hands.
Pacquiao, know for his rags-to-riches story, is touted as one of the world’s best boxers lauded for his speed and humility. Recently, Pacquiao announced he is studying whether to run for president, seek reelection or retire from politics. His decision will be announced before the filing of the certificate of candidacies for the 2022 national elections early October.
