Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was no longer surprised by the remark of Senator Manny Pacquiao that the government has mismanaged its response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Roque blamed politics for Pacquiao’s recent statement.
“‘Di ako nagtataka na ‘yan ang kanyang pakiramdam dahil panahon na po ng pulitika,” he said during his televised briefing Tuesday.
The boxer-turned-politician had said he will decide on his political plans for 2022 by September 19.
The secretary said the Delta variant is fueling Covid-19 cases in the country.
“Ang totoo po niyan, ang problema si Delta variant. Five to eight times more infectious than ‘yung mas infectious pa na variant na Alpha variant,” said Duterte.
“Talagang dadami ang kaso natin dahil ito po dadaan ka lang puwede ka na mahawa,” he added.
