The Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of La Union is set to conduct a preliminary investigation over the criminal complaint filed against Julian Ongpin, the son of business tycoon Roberto Ongpin, Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

“The inquest prosecutor of La Union deemed it proper to conduct a regular preliminary investigation of the case to give the law enforcers the opportunity to submit additional evidence to further prove the case for possession of dangerous drugs (cocaine) under Section 11, R.A. No. 9165, and to investigate further if there was ‘foul play’ which resulted in the death of Bree Jonson,” Villar said.

“In the meantime, the inquest prosecutor ordered PNP San Juan, La Union, to release Mr. Ongpin pending the preliminary investigation of the case,” she added.
Bree had been found unconscious last Saturday (Sept. 18) at a hostel in San Juan, La Union where she and Julian have been staying.
The Filipino artist was rushed to the hospital was declared dead, while, Julian was arrested by police after cocaine was found in the hostel.
