If President Rodrigo Duterte vowed in 2016 to end criminality three to six months into his term, Senator Manny Pacquiao promises to remove any non-performing government official within a year should he become the next president.
Pacquiao shared his ultimatum for presidential appointees in an interview on Politiko Live’s “Politiskoop” Friday (Sept. 3).
“Halimbawa, ilagay kita isang postion tapos ikaw bigyan kita ng ultimatum. Kailangan in one year may improvement diyan sa ahensya mo, kailangan mawala yung korapsyon diyan sa ahensya mo,” he said.
“For example, yung agency na ‘yan. Yung agency na yan makaambag ng contribution sa gobyerno expecially income, okay. Bigyan mo ng ultimatum ‘pag ‘di niya nagawa ‘yan in six months, one year eh prangkahin mo na, palitan kita,” Pacquiao added.
The senator, who’s widely believed to be eyeing the presidency in 2022, said there should be no coverup of incompetence and corruption in any government agency.
Pacquiao said Duterte should not be furious over the Senate investigations on alleged irregularities in the administration.
“Demokrasya naman kasi tayo so sana ang Pangulo natin ay ‘wag magalit. Ginagampanan lang namin ang aming trabaho as a legislator,” he said.
