Will actor Robin Padilla finally join the world of politikos?
The popular film actor went on Facebook live Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, to reveal that he is weighing his options on whether to pursue his film career or venture into politics. His latest Facebook post is titled “Pelikula o Pulitika.”
Robin, a known supporter of President Duterte, said he is having difficulty on deciding if he will run for senator or join the gubernatorial race in Camarines Norte in the 2022 elections. Another option for Robin is to run for mayor in Jose Panginaban town in Camarines Norte.
The actor is among the personalities reported included in Chief Executive’s reported list of preferred senatorial candidates.
Sabay-sabay. Kailangan akong magdesisyon,” Robin said on Facebook.
Robin has also prayed to seek guidance for his decision, admitting that he is troubled on what to do next. “Sobra akong naguguluhan ngayon… Pinakamabigat na desisyon na yata itong nangyayari sa buhay ko,” he said.
First, Robin disclosed his possible run as governor of Camarines Norte to help uplift the lives of the people there. He admitted though that he has no P150 million to bankroll his local campaign.
Papaano mo babayaran yun? Eh di pabor na ‘yun. Katakot-takot na pabor. Ibig sabihin ‘yung pagbabago mong gustong gawin, wala rịn mangyayari,” he said.
Robin then talked about a possible Senate run, admitting he could finally pursue his advocacy for a federal form of government. He believes that federalism is the only key not only to spur economic development but also stamp out corruption in government.
Robin’s decision may be forthcoming before the filing of certificate of candidacies for the 2022 national and local elections in the first week of October.
Apart from political plans, Robin also bared that he has other film offers, including a sequel to the movies “Bad Boy” and “Mistah.”
Before ending his Facebook video, Robin asked for the advice of his fans on whether he should continue making movies or throw his hat in the political ring. He promised to read the comments of his followers and thanked them for listening to him.
