An outpouring of grief and tribute erupted on social media following the death of former Social Welfare Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman.
Soliman passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the age of 68. Her passing was confirmed by Vice President Leni Robredo during her radio program.
From Robredo to former and incumbent officials, these politikos paid touching tributes to Soliman and thanked her for her service to the nation.

In a Facebook post, Senator Leila de Lima extended his sympathies over the passing of Soliman. “Pakikiramay at panalangin po para sa pamilya, mahal sa buhay, kaibigan at mga kapwa lingkod-bayan. Paalam at maraming salamat po, Sec. Dinky,” she said.
Senator Francis Pangilinan said he and his wife Sharon Cuneta were saddened by the passing of Soliman. He remembered her as a “indefatigable, unsinkable fighter” until he end.
Pangilinan also admitted that he was fuming when he learned about Soliman’s coronavirus battle in middle of the Pharmally controversy.
“When I think of Dinky’s death this morning after surviving Covid last month then I see these photos of the lamborghini, porsches of these Pharmally execs, i am deeply angered. Pasensya na, i know we should not give in to anger but in this case I cannot help it,” he tweeted.
Former Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero also took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the family of Soliman. “My condolences and prayers to the family and loved ones of Former DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman. Rest in peace Ma’am,” he tweeted.
Soliman was the “indefatigable” Social Welfare Secretary who offered aid to Filipinos especially during calamities, former Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda remembered.
“In any calamity, she was there. She ensured the poorest were not left behind thru the CCT program. She was the smallest member of our Cabinet but the biggest heart among us. Salamat Dinky! Rest now in your little patch of sunflowers,” Lacierda tweeted.
Former Palace communications official Manolo Quezon also mourned the loss of Soliman, citing the impact she made in the country.
“She left nothing materially but so much in the respectful affection of all who worked, dreamed and fought with her. Her passing ends a chapter in a Civil Society now gone: where the crossover from working in parallel to, to working not just with but in, government was tried. RIP,” he tweeted.
Former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada remembered Soliman’s courage and love for the country and thanked her for her service to the nation. “Sec Dinky may be small in size but her courage and love for the Philippines is beyond her size… Thank you Sec Dinky for your principled positions and service! Rest in Power! RIP Dinky,” he tweeted.
Supreme Court Justice Marvic Leonen also hailed Soliman’s contributions to Filipinos, adding she will be missed.
Lawyer Barry Gutierrez is heartbroken after learning of the demise of Soliman. The spokesman of the vice president remembered Soliman’s selfless service and wellspring of hope and optimism.
