Quiboloy ready to face Pacquiao in court: ‘No personal attacks, issues lang’

The verbal tussle between Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Pastor Apollo Quiboloy will now shift to a court battle.

Quiboloy is prepared to face the libel case filed against him in court even as he defended his right to scrutinize the actions of a public official like Pacquiao.

“Even if you will sue me… I will face you there. As long as we stay on the issue… no personal attacks, issues lang,” Quiboloy said on Facebook.

Pacquiao filed on Tuesday a P100-million libel and cyberlibel case against Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, after he alleged the boxer had a P3.5-billion project in his home province Sarangani. The senator, in a statement, said Quiboloy had used his influence to spread false information “to brainwash the minds of the Filipino public, recklessly propagating lies to blacken the image and reputation of an honest public servant.”

Quiboloy said he has noting personal against Pacquiao but believed that public servants must be ready for scrutiny from taxpayers.

“Public interests iyan… ikaw na public servant… you should be ready to be scrutinized. You should be ready to be criticized… because you put yourself in that kind of position. Wala akong personal… I am a citizen of the republic. I have entities that are tax-free… but we also have entities that are not tax-free,” he said.

“I have the right to criticize. I have the right to inform the public who are asking me about public issues. And if your name is involved in it, pasensya ka, because I will really be scrutinizing it,” he said.
