President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday accused Senator Dick Gordon of using the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for elections.

In his pre-recorded “Talk to the People” address, Duterte called Gordon “unethical” for his role as a senator and as PRC chairman at the same time.
“Alam mo, ginagamit mo itong Red Cross and I dare say na ginamit mo talaga ito para sa elections. Ito ‘yung milking cow mo eh. Sa totoo lang,” the Chief Executive said.

“You have been there for quite a time. Is it not fare to say now that bumitaw ka na ang give others a chance para mahinto na yung ginagawa mong kalokohan,” he added.
Duterte slammed the humanitarian organization for charging Covid-19 testing at an “astronomical rate” of around P4,700 without any discount for senior citizens or persons with disabilities.
“It is a violation of law to deprive the senior citizens and persons with disabilities of lower prices in consideration of their present situation,” he said.
The President also recalled how Gordon threatened to stop conducting Covid-19 testing due to PhilHealth’s P930-million debt.
“At the time when we were busy testing everybody at humingi kami ng tulong sa inyo. Red Cross is supposed to be a humanitarian organization, but when the government was struggling to source funds, you threatened to stop testing,” said Duterte.
“I can’t see the rationale of your statement na you threaten government with something which ought to be done by you irrespective of whether or not may pera ba o wala,” he also said.
