‘Simple lang ako’: Bong Go says he doesn’t own a mansion in Ayala Alabang

President Duterte’s former aide keeps a simple lifestyle, contrary to rumors about an extravagant one.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go took to Facebook to strongly deny rumors that he owns a number of posh houses in Ayala Alabang village, a premier residential address in the south of Manila.

To dispute allegations of owning a mansion, Go shared photos of his workstation at home, including a snapshot near the kitchen. The senator prefers a casual attire, including shorts and slippers, while working from home. He uses a table for his laptop for his makeshift home office. His background is decorated with the Philippine flag, a framed Senate seal, and framed photos with the President, and their figurines.

He made the comment after rumors swirled online that he was the real owner of the new mansions being built at Ayala Alabang, including houses supposedly for his siblings.

Go, who worked as President Duterte’s assistant since the late 1990s before being elected senator in 2019, was recently endorsed as a presidential bet by a pro-Duterte faction in the PDP-Laban party. He declined the presidential challenge.

When his six-year Senate term ends, Go plans to return to his hometown in Davao City.
