Mayor Sara thanks supporters: ‘Kaisa niyo ako sa pagmamahal sa Pilipinas’

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio is grateful for the love and support from groups urging to run for president in next year’s elections.

Mayor Sara wrote an appreciation post for her volunteers, saying she shares their love for the country.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong tiwala, pagmamahal at suporta. Kaisa niyo ako sa pagmamahal sa ating Pilipinas,” she wrote on Facebook.

She wrote the comment following the launch of feeding programs initiated by a group of pro-Sara volunteers. The group, called ISDA or Inday Sara Duterte Ako, also set up a national headquarters in support of the mayor.

“Kasabay ng pagbubukas ng ISDA National Headquarters, nagsagawa ng simultaneous feeding activities sa NCR, Luzon, Visayas at Mindanano,” the group said.

Mayor Sara recently decided against seeking the presidency after her father President Duterte announced plans to run for vice president in the 2022 elections. There was a supposed agreement that only one Duterte would seek a national post next year. The decision came even as Mayor Sara remained the frontrunner in recent surveys of preferred presidential candidates. The pro-Sara groups remained unfazed by the decision and hopeful the mayor will change her mind.

President Duterte, who is winding down his six-year term next year, earlier said he was considering a vice-presidential run to escape criminal prosecution by his critics. A faction of the ruling PDP-Laban party has asked Duterte to run for vice president, which he eventually accepted.
