Three Cabinet members should spare the nation of their supposed incompetence during the pandemic.
Health reform advocate Dr. Tony Leachon called for the resignation of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez and Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, saying it was the honorable thing to do.
“Sec. Roque ,Duque and Galvez should all resign. The Filipinos are suffering from your incompetence,” Leachon tweeted on Sept. 12, 2021.
For Leachon, these three officials should be replaced by leaders with competence and compassion.
“We deserve better and caring leaders. It’s time to step down ; it’s the most honorable thing to do,” he said.
The resignation call was aired after Roque lost his temper and scolded physician leaders opposed to the easing of quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila. Roque’s meltdown during the virtual IATF meeting, which was caught on video, triggered a deluge of criticisms for his rude and uncalled for behavior.
Roque, who’s eyeing a senatorial bid in next year’s elections, apologized if the medical professionals were offended by his outburst.
