On this note, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III formalized their bids to run for President and Vice President in 2022 by filing their respective certificates of candidacy.
Lacson and Sotto filed their COCs before the Commission on Elections at the outdoor tent of the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.

“Kakayahan, Katapatan, Katapangan – Mga katangiang taglay ng Lacson-Sotto tandem na layuning maibalik ang tiwala ng mga mamamayan sa ating pamahalaan,” Lacson said in his statement after filing his COC.
He said his leadership is centered on a corruption-free policy to fight the syndicates inside and outside the government.
He also said he is dedicating his last hurrah in public service not just to the nation but to his parents who taught him and his siblings not to allow poverty to stop them from helping the poor.
“Panahon na upang maipanumbalik ang dignidad at respeto sa sarili ng bawat Pilipino sa loob at labas ng ating bansa. Kapag ang namumuno ay matino at nirerespeto, panalo ang pangkaraniwang Pilipino!” he said.
