Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Senator Bong Go might be joining forces for the 2022 elections to stop Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte “at all costs,” Special Envoy to China Mon Tulfo said Tuesday (October 26).
Tulfo said in his Philippine Star column that the idea of a Marcos-Go tandem was broached by House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
It was called “Plan C” since “Plan A” supposedly involved President Rodrigo Duterte running for vice president with Go as president.
Plan B, meanwhile, reportedly entailed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte running for president with Go as vice president.
Sara, however, has insisted she will not run for president.
“Under Plan C, according to my Cebu spies, Digong would run for the Senate, with an eye for acquiring the position of Senate president,” Tulfo said.
“Plan C, which will be presented to Bongbong Marcos anytime now, requires the following from Bongbong himself: he would have to retain all key Cabinet members, such as Francisco Duque for health, Cusi for energy, Carlos ‘Sonny’ Dominguez for finance and Salvador ‘Bingbong’ Medialdea as executive secretary,” he added.
Marcos and Sara met in Cebu over the weekend. The mayor said they discussed the possibility of her party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago, supporting Marcos’ presidential bid.
